Elevate your Easter dinner with these irresistibly creamy and cheesy Scalloped Potatoes, infused with a hint of garlic and thyme for an unforgettable twist!

Nestled in the bustling streets of DC, my kitchen becomes a haven of creativity, especially during the festive seasons. This Easter, I've decided to give the traditional scalloped potatoes a little makeover, introducing the comforting depth of roasted garlic and the earthy touch of thyme. It's a dish that promises to hug your soul with each bite, creating a symphony of flavors that complements any main course

Ingredients

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Servings: 8 โ€ข ๐Ÿ”ฅ Calories/Serving: 350

  • 3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 3 cups heavy cream

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 head of garlic, roasted and mashed

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, plus extra for garnish

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • Butter, for greasing the baking dish

Steps

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.

Step 2

In a large saucepan, combine heavy cream, mashed roasted garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 3

Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly. Season with a bit more salt and pepper.

Step 4

Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese.

Step 5

Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses. Sprinkle the top with paprika for a hint of color.

Step 6

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Step 7

Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves.

Make it your own!

  • Mix in sliced mushrooms between layers for an earthy flavor.

  • For a crispy topping, add a layer of breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter before the final baking step.

  • Experiment with different cheeses like Gruyere or smoked Gouda for a unique taste.
