Spicy Mango Tango Shrimp
⏱️ Prep Time: 15 minutes • 🍳 Cook Time: 10 minutes
An explosive combination of sweet and spicy, this dish brings together succulent shrimp with tropical mango flavors and a kick of heat for an unforgettable taste experience.
Juicy shrimp tossed in a bright, spicy mango sauce with a hint of honey and lime
This recipe came together one night when I was craving something light but flavorful, and all I had was a couple mangoes, a bag of shrimp, and a lime I forgot I had. I blended them all together (well, not the shrimp), added a bit of heat, and this magic was born. The sauce is so lush and punchy, it could honestly double as a salad dressing or taco drizzle if you're in the mood to experiment.
I love how flexible this dish is—it’s perfect over rice or quinoa, or tucked into tortillas for fast mango shrimp tacos. The heat level is totally customizable too, so whether you’re a spice lover or someone who prefers a mellow burn, you can adjust the red pepper flakes to your taste. Oh, and the cilantro at the end? Don’t skip it. It gives the whole thing that fresh finish that brings the flavors to life.
Ingredients
🍽️ Servings: 4 • 🔥 Calories/Serving: 250
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 ripe mangoes, diced
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Steps
Step 1
In a blender, puree one diced mango, lime juice, honey, and half of the red pepper flakes until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the mango sauce over the shrimp. Stir to coat the shrimp evenly in the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Step 4
Add the remaining diced mango and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Toss everything together for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 5
Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve over steamed rice or quinoa.
