Ingredients

🍽️ Servings: 4 β€’ πŸ”₯ Calories/Serving: 400

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced into strips

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

  • Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving

Steps

Step 1

In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add thinly sliced beef strips and cook until browned on all sides. Remove beef and set aside.

Step 3

In the same pan, add chopped onions and cook until softened.

Step 4

Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the pan. Cook until mushrooms are golden brown.

Step 5

Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to combine, creating a roux.

Step 6

Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, ensuring no lumps.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then add the cooked beef back to the pan. Simmer until the sauce thickens.

Step 8

Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, avoiding boiling the sauce.

Step 9

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 10

Serve Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Make it your own!

  • Add a splash of white wine to the sauce for extra depth.

  • Include frozen peas or spinach for added color and nutrition.

  • Experiment with different mushrooms, such as cremini or shiitake.
